What is the Kentucky Mesonet?
The Kentucky Mesonet is a network of automated weather and climate monitoring stations being developed by the Kentucky Climate Center at Western Kentucky University to serve diverse needs in communities across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Earmark funding for the Mesonet was secured by U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell. The Mesonet reflects a partnership between Western Kentucky University and NOAA’s National Weather Service.
Welcome!
The official launch of kymesonet.org represents another milestone in the
ongoing development of the Kentucky Mesonet. Near real-time weather and climate data is now available from selected sites across the commonwealth. Over the coming months, many new monitoring stations will come online. Periodic updates to
kymesonet.org will provide enhanced
displays with more information. The Kentucky Mesonet will be commissioned as the
official source of climatological observations for the Commonwealth of Kentucky
on August 1, 2008.
Your feedback is welcomed as we continue to
develop and test systems of the Kentucky Mesonet. |
